Wanting a pony all my life it started when my daughters turned out to be naturally talented equestrians like my Mom and Dad ( who is resting in Horseman's Heaven). I soon discovered that I had to work much harder, study more, read and practice everything I could to keep up. Working at various barns to pay for both daughters riding lessons, I listened, learned and practiced on my own when given the chance. I went from a mere side walker/groom to an Assistant Instructor very quickly for both able-bodied and Therapeutic Riding at Chariot Riders in Manchester, NJ. Being an extra set of helping hands at Lyn Kamer's Mustang Ranch in Jackson, NJ, taught me much about horse handling, training, horse care and nutrition. Being part of a mentoring system for the BLM Mustangs at Mustang Ranch and now at Majestic Meadow Stables, Stevensburg, VA.: observing and using the gentling process to build trust, teach groundwork, under saddle and some to harness helped me to develop the patience, persistence, and understanding of the horse. Playing with the horses at liberty in the pasture and getting them to join up is still my greatest joy.
Following soon came my first exposure to Parelli Natural Horsemanship in Timonium, MD. When I saw Pat with Magic dancing so softly, that's when I knew I was on the right path and wanted that kind of relationship. I am a devoted student and follower. I am also familiar with the many other Natural Horsemen and their style's. Linda Parelli's Passenger lesson is what catapulted me from afraid but wanting rider, to a winning competitor. Now partnered up with Colleen Kelly, I am a student of Rider Biomechanics and presently a Level One Coach. Balanced Seat and Centered Riding by Sally Swift has also complimented my style of instructing. Their visual and simple approach with it's use of imagery is extremely effective. I've been instructing for over 20 years. Horse training and helping students with their horse issues using all natural horsemanship techniques for over 18 years.
It is always a great experience and pleasure to share what you learn. I've been a demo rider for many well known clinicians at regional as well as local Horse Expos, such as Horse World Expo in Timonium, MD, Equine Extravaganza here in Virginia, Piedmont Horse Expo in Culpeper, VA. and local Farm Tours throughout the Counties. My demos provide the audience with a view of possibilities with bareback, bridleless riding, riding in harmony and being connected. Reading a horse and understanding their feelings, thoughts and ideas is my love and has always been so.
Owning Majestic Meadow Stables has enabled me to continue experiencing, learning, and living my dream with horses. I want to help you live yours.
